HOSPITAL BOARD.

Yesterday's meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board •was attended by Messrs. J. G. W. Aitken (chairman), R. C. Kirk, D. M'Laren, D. Robertson, J. Smith, J. Godber, W. Galloway, J. W. JiTEwan, A. H. Hindmarsh, W. Tompsitt, B. R. Gardener, G. London, J. E. Fitzgerald, ' and -the Rev." H. Van Staveren. 'Leave of absence was granted the Rev. W. A. Evans and Mr. J. Trevor. The Hospital Committee recommended: That the question of an addition to the house steward's residence be reported to the board as one of urgency, with a recommendation that the work be proceeded with at a cost estimated to not exceed £125 ; that the medical superintendent's recommenda tion be adopted in reference to the proposal that the patients in the Otaki Sanatorium should be responsible, for keeping their shelters clean (the medical superintendent ¦>*eport«d that he had been to Otaki and enquired thoroughly into the question; the amount of work to be done is very small, is not in" any way arduous, and would not take more than ten minutes daily; he explained to the patients what was proposed, and they appreciated his remarks, and there would be no difficulty in getting their co-operation) ; that, in view of the altered conditions, nurses on duty at the Infectious Diseases Hospital serve tor three months .instead of six weeks as hitherto. A report on the tees received from inpatients for the nine months ended 31st December last showed that the amount was £2417 12s 9d, as against £2278 14s lid for the corresponding period of last year. The receipts trom loth December to 9th January amounted to £466 16s sd, while the payments, including £1243, monthly accounts, totalled £2445 17s 6d. The reports were adopted. • The board agreed to transfer of lease from Mrs. E. E. Lane to Mr. W. J. Blundell, of property in Wesley-road. The trustees of the estate of the late E. M. Greenfield are to be allowed to surrender lease of Lot No. 16, Clifton- . terrace, and that the rent of the re- j mainder of their land be reduced by j £48 per annum; and, further, that, with the consent of the trustees of the j estate, the board agree to grant a fresh lease of Lot; No. 16 to the Wellington Education Board for the balance of the j term of '--he present lease to the trus- j tees* of R.
