HIGHER WAGES. A MINIATURE STRIKE. [BY TELEGRAPH-PRESS ASSOCIATION] OAMARU, This Day.
Five men employed by the Christchurch Meat Company as baggers, stackers, etc., in the freezing works, struck for higher wages this morning. They were receiving 9s daily, but owing to slackness were not able to make more than about three days weekly. They asked for 10s for an eight-hour day. After being out a short time, the men resumed work pending the company's favourable consideration of their demand.
