Evidence in the Chinese immigration enquiry at Vancouver disclosed the existence of a smuggling ring of opiunisellers, in which many prominent subscribers to the Anti-Opium League -were involved. Huge profits vrere made. One party of Chinese, learning that! another party was landing a big consignment of opium, personated detectives and captured all the booty. Vancouver was used as a centre to supply the chief Canadian cities.
