ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. A special meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association was hold at the V.M.C.A. rooms last evening, Mr. H. N. Holmes presiding. Mr. A. E. Gibbs, New Zealand representative on the English Football Association, wrote stating that tho proposed tour by an English team of tho Australasian colonies would not be considered by the council except upon similar lines to those upon which the recent successful tour to South Africa was carried out. The South African Association paid the first-class fares, hotel bills of tho team from London out and back, together with all other travelling expenses in the colony, and further provided each visiting player with £20_ out of pocket expenses. South African Association took all tho gate money, as well as tho risk. The real difficulty in the case of an Australasian tour, said tho letter, was fcho time which would be involved. The association was dominated by clubs, which were loth to allow its professional players to be absent for any portion of the season. The writer suggested sending a team of amateurs. It was decided to communicate, with other associations in Australia, stating what was considered to bo tne cost (about £4000), and asking what sums the various associations wejre prepared to contribute. Messis. Holmos, Fordham, Roberts, and Salmond were appointed a sub-committee to attend to all urgent matters till March next. It was stated that Mr. A. E. Gibbs had consontod to represent Australasia on the .London Association, provided that Aus-" tralasia is granted diroct representation.
