In connection with the strike of miners at Clydach Vale, Brecknockshire, troops have arrived at Swindon, where thsy are being held in readiness to proceed to Wales. The miners on strike at Clydach Vale, I Brecknockshire, extinguished the boiler- j fires and stopped the ventilating fans in the mines. It is feared thait 300 horses are- perishing in consequence. Women and girla participated in th© stondng of the police. ' Th'are were several ugly rushes, aaid the mounted pojice were almost unhorsed. Subsequently the police were reinforced, and relit the boiler fir-ec and caved the horses. Thousands of strikers marched to the Cambrian Combine's colliery in the Bhondda Valley. They were headed by I two men wearing white shirts, and with halters round the necks. Across the breasts of thess two men was the in- ] ecription, "Take warning!" j The police guarding the colliery were i overpowered, and two of them were badly injured. The power station was captured by the strikers subsequently, but the police, on being rsinforced, dislodged the men. j A JKUUfOSAL REJECTED. The council of the South Wales Miners' Federation, Mr. W. A discussion then followed on the depufcatioi/s more drastic -proposal for a general strike. This was negatived. J The chairman oi the Miners' Federa- ] tion Committee is undertaking to use his influence to prevent injury to property and lite. In the affected district the panorama is one of wieckage. Shop windows have been .smashed. Fifty tnen. including the general mana- j ger of the Glamorgan Colliery, are im- j prisoned in the powerhouse, the mob holding them as hostages. Men are keeping the pumps going, thus preventing the ruining of the mine. FURTHER RIOTING. SIXTY STRIKERS IN HOSPITAL. SUGGESTION BY MR. ASQUITH. (Received November 9, 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, Bth November. There haa been further rioting at Clydach Vale, where sixty strikers had to be sent to hospital.
