HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.
— '^ - The monthly meeting of the Hutt County Council was held yesterday, and was attended by Councillors Whiteman (chairman), Wakeham, Weluh, Lynch, EdwaTds, and Galloway. The Inspector of Works (Mr. J. W. Cudby) recommended that Mr. Tattle should be allowed to erect a fence on Cecil-road, Paekakariki. Mr. Cudby reported- that a portion of the Plim-merton-Pahautanui-road, between Motukaraka and the end of the formation on the eastern side of the hill, was being metalled and improved generally. The flood on the 27th scoured some of the roads in the country, but no serious damage was done. The following works, for which the Government made grants, were completed during last month :— Narrow Neck Stream, metalling j Thomas, Creek, metalling; Whiteman's Valley, widening formation; Cook-road, formation and metalline. The teport was adopted. ° The Railway Department wrote that enquiries were being made relative to the alleged drain nuisance at Paekakariki. The Upper Hutt Town Board forwarded a complaint relative to wandering animals in the town district area and it was decided to draw the ranger's attention to the matter.
