THE TERRA NOVA.

LOCATING LEAKS. # .CHRISTCHURCH, Oth Nov. This morning the temporary bulkhead in the forepeak of the Terra Nova was completed,' and the space was then flooded with water, with the object of locating the leak in the bow of the .vessel which has been a.pparent since she left London. It was not long before a fairly large outflow "of water commenced to issue from the seams of the sheathing on the starboard side of the vessel's bow, thus indicating plainly i»hat the seat of the leak was to be found there. Three of the iron sheathing plates •were stripped off, and the timber riieafching also removed. The fore peak •will again be flooded, and it is expected that further defective spots will be lopa/ted ■without any difficulty. BUSY TIMBER MILLS. DARGAVILLE, Bth Nov. ' The timber mills of the Kaipara are unusually busy just now completing orders for England, Australia, and colonial market*. The barque Chala sailed yesterday for Liverpool with a full cargo of timber. Several very large overseas orders hav<e come to hand, and the Kauri Timber Company's mill at Kopurn is obliged to run a night shift. Other mills are correspondingly active. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
