ADMIRALTY HOUSE.
OETER OF AN AUCKLAND SITE DECLINED. £b2 TEfiBGBAPH — SPECIAL" TO THE POST.] AUCKLAND, Thia Day. Now that in the reasonably near future 'Auckland is likely to become a real naval headquarters* station, it is freely suggested that the Harbour Board should cast about for another and more appropriate site than hitherto for an Admiralty House. This afternoon Messrs. Paul "Hansen and Co. went one further by of- . f ering to sell the board four allotments of the Bayswater Estate, on the North Shore side of the harbour, for that purpose The site in question, the prospective sellers set forth, ■was bounded by two roads, and had an excellent water frontage, , and was situated close to the O'Neill's Point wharf. The price asked ■was £3000. The offer was declined without discussion, members of the board feeing apparently in no humour "to seek fresh experience in the building of admirals' residences. The present Admiralty House is now. used as a boardingHouse. [press association.]
