ST. PETER'S CHURCH BELLS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— The reasoned and temperate letter of "Buller Street" concerning "those bells," should appeal to the good sense of the managers of St. Peter's Church. I also went through tho nerve-racking experience on Saturday and Sunday last, which your correspondent has so graphically described, and I am wondering why the numerous doctors in Upper Willis-street do not take some action to stop the nuisance, which must have such an injurious effect on. their patients. One can put up with a certain amount of bell-ringing if there is music in the bells ; but the efforts to produce hymn tunes on Sunday were ludicrous, and tho piactising on Saturday afternoon (or were the bells being tested?) was enough to worry anyone in the neighbourhood. I earnestly hope the St. Petor's authorities will take the hint that has been given; but if they ignore the complaints, I shall gladly subscribe to a fund to have a tost case before tha courts it "Buller Street"' will take the initiative.— I am, otc .^ T ... L CA' CANNY.' Wellington, 9th November, 1910. TO THE EDITOH. Sir.— l can cordially endorse "Bullor Street s letter, appearing in to-day a Post, re tho bell nuisance emanating from St Peter's Church on Saturdays and Sundays. How any person in the possession his senses can expect such hideous clatter to be conducive to religious sentiment is beyond comprehension. Although a regular worshipper at church, tho horrible uproar that we who are unfortunate enough to live about the locality have to put up with from 10.30 till 11 o clock on a Sunday morning is enough to drive anyone to profanity. I might mention that St. Peter's Church is not the only offender in this respect. Trusting that tho church authorities will give our letters the consideration they deserve, and thus settle the matter in an amicable and Christian-like Bpirit —I am, etc., . GHUZNEE STREET.
