Messrs. J. H. Bethune and Company insert in. our auction columns a preliminary advertisement with regard to an unreserved sale of 1200 books which they are holding at their rooms on Wednesday, 21st hist., at 1 p.m. Catalogues are now being prepared. The firm announce that on Friday, 23rd insc, at 2.30 p.m., at their rooms^ they are submitting a residential property in Hillstreet, near Parliament- Buildings. This comprises freehold land having a frontage of 40ft to Hill-street by a depth of 115 ft, on which stands the two-story residence, No. 85, containing ten rooms, with scullery, larder, bathroom, and all conveniences. Easy terms can. be arranged. On Wednesday, 28th inst., at 2.30 p.m., at their rooms, a cottage property situated on the- Ridgway, Mornington, will be disposed of. This sale is being held by order of the mortgagee, and a large portion of the purchase money may remain on mortgage. The key may be obtained from the auc.tioneers. Messrs. Messrs. Harcourb and Company advertise the sale by auction at their rooms, Panama-street, on Friday, the 16th of September, at 2.30 p.m., of a boardinghouse- business situated in the best part of Thorndon. The house contains nine rooms, and is furnished throughout. As the owner is compelled to retire owing to illness, a low reserve has been placed on the business. Messrs. T. Household furniture, grand piano, sideboards, dining-room suites, wardrobes, bedroom suites, extension dining tables, are to be sold in the auction mart on Wednesday at 1.30 o'clock, and on Fridaj', 16th, at the family residence,,. Waterloo-road (close to Main Hutt -road), Lower Hutt, the contents of ten furnished rooms will be sold on account of a gentleman leaving the district. Included in the catalogue are— upright grand piano, sideboard, bookcase, dining table, bedroom suite, Italian bedstead, dining-room suite, etc. ; this sale is timed to start at 1.30 o'clock. The feame firm insert an advertisement of the sale by private treaty of a small farm containing thirtysix acres of high-class land, situate on tho Main-road, at Ponrua, on wluch is erected a cottage containing five rooms, etc., with large poultry yard attached to it. On Thursday, 29th inst.., at their Exchange Land Mart, at 3 o'clock, a residential property situate at Ngaio, containing nearly half an acre fronting Abbott-road, together with the villa residence containing six rooms and conveniences erected thereon, will be sold. Wilson and Co. insert particulars of a sale of oil and water colours they are holding at their room, 26 Brandon -street, on Monday, at 2 p.m., on behalf of Mr. L. Rose Jaggar, who is disposing of the whole of his collection prior to departing for the Old Country. There will be a special display of the pictures to-night at the firm's rooms from 7.30 to 9 o'clock. On Tuesday, at 1.30, at the residence, 126. Ghuznee-street, they hold a sale of furnishings, the contents of seven rooms, without reserve. On Wednesday at their rooms, commencing at 1.30 p.m., their weekly sale of furniture, including a piano, will be held. Country clients' attention is directed to this sale. On Thursday, at 1.30, they sell, at the residence, 14? k Tinakori-road, the contents of heven rooms, including upright grand piano.
