LADIES' HOCKEY TOURNEY.

' POSITION OP TEAMS. [BT TELEGRAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.] NELSON, This Day. The position of the first three teams after yesterday's play is interesting. Hawkes Bay, with nine matches, have eight wins and a loss, counting 14 points; and Nelson and Wairarapa are now on level terms each with 13 points after playing eight matches. Wairarapa are the only team in the tournament with no loss recorded against them, but they have had three draws in the early stages. It means that Nelson will have to beat Hawkes Bay to-day to gain first place, which is rather an unlikely occurrence. Should Hawkes Bay win they will retain the championship. Nelson have still to play Wellington B, but to-day's result of the match with the Bay team will probably decide whether the B team game is played. The weather has been perfect, and the visitors appear to be enjoying- themselves. A conversazione and dance were held last night.
