MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Makara County Council met yesterday. There were present Councillors F. T. Moore (chairman), T. H. Haggerty, S. Bryant, G. Monk, H. Eastwood, and H. Hawkins. The Karori Borough Council asked the council to reconsider its refusal to pay half cost of the proposed concrete bridge on the road at the foot of the Makara Hill, pointing out that the borough had power to levy on .Makara County for part maintenance of its main road since the secession of a portion of the borough. The letter was received. On the motion of Councillor Haggerty, ifc tvas/ decided that the council should subsidise £ for £ the survey and estimate of a road from Crofton to Ohariu. Accounts amounting to £320 8s Id ' were passed. Mr. Mace (of Mace and Nicholson) waited on the council in regard to the adjustment of the charges qf maintaining the Ng'ahauranga Gorge-road below his quarry. He expressed his willingness to enter into an agreement with tho council to contribute towards the upkeep of the road, the wear and tear of which was affected by traffic from the firm's quarry.
