COLLAPSE OF CONCRETE BRIDGE SPANS.

AUCKLAND, This Day. The Star's Wbakatane correspondent telegraphs that at 9.45 to-day two concrete spans weighing 175 tons, a portion of the Whakatane River bridge, collapsed without warning. Fonr men were working underneath, and two men on top. v, A native named J. Herewini was drowned. J. Henderson sustained a broken leg, a fractured rib, and other injuries. C Johnson had an arm broken, and the others escaped injury. Henderson swam 50 yards to the shore, despite his injuries.
