It is understood that the Anti-Gamb-ling League deputation will wait upon the Prime Minister at'noon on Monday week. Owing to ,the large attendance expected the gathering will be held in front of old Parliament Buildings. The annual sale' of work in aid of St. Peter's Mission was opened in the Mission Hall, Taranaki-street, this after. noon. The sale will be continued this evening, when a programme, consisting of Scout choruses, songs, recitations, and sketches will be gone through. The number of persons present at the Knyvett meeting last night in the Town Hall has been variously estimated. In The Post report of the meeting it is stated that 500 ,were present. This waß at the commencement of the meeting. There was, however, a considerable influx later, and at one time the custodian of the hall (Mr. T. W. Leslie}, who has a pretty good idea of its capacity, calculated the number as nearly 1000. The mails which left Wellington on the 27th May per the s.s. Warrimoo, and connected at Sydney with the Naples mails per the R.M.S. Ophir, arrived in London on the afternoon of the 3rd inst. A professional notice in reference to Guy's Hospital Medical and Dental School is advertised in this issue. Messrs. Wallace and Gibson, of The Kash, Willis-street, advertise a special lino of overcoats for a few days only. Messrs A. L. Wilson and Co. advertise, particulars of a large sale of furniture to be held at 1.30 o'clock to-morrow. Details of a Bill to be introduced in tho present session of Parliament by the Wellington City Council, entitled "The Wellington City Milk Supply Bill," are advertised in our columns this evening. Generally, tho object of the Bill is to confer additional powers on the Corporation in relation to tho inspection and control of tho milk supply of the city of Wellington, and other matters. Members of the Rose and Carnation Club are reminded of the annual meeting, whioh is to be held this evening. After the general business is conducted Mr. Trevethick, of tho Lower Butt, will give a lecture on "Rose Culture," wbioh should attract a largo audience.
