The Departmental Board of Enquiry into certain charges brought against Mr. P. Heyes in connection with his administration of the Tax Department commenced its investigation this morning. The board consists of Mr. F. Waldefrave ,(Under-Secretary for Justice), 'rofessoT Salmond (Solicitor-General), and Dr. Fitchett (Public Trustee). Mr. Stringer, K.C. (Cbristchurch) appeared in support oi the allegation, and Mr. C. P. Skerrett, X.C, and Mr. Napier appeared on behalf of Mr. Heyes. It is expected that the enquiry will occupy several days.
