THE NAVY LEAGUE.

The monthly meeting of the local executive of the Navy League, h«ld last night, was attended by Colonel A. Hume (in the chair), Colonel G. F. C. Campbell, Messrs. F. B. Harcourt, E. J. Le Grove, D. M'Kellar, and C. W. Palmer. The ball to the Admiral and officers had resulted most satisfactorily, loth financially and in every other way; and th« entertainment of the bluejackets at Day's Bay had also been a great success. Ihe 100 Navy League wall maps ordered by the Education Department, at the instigation of the Wellington branch, were reported to be to hand, and that the departmrnt was in communication with the various Education Boards who bad already intimated their requirements as to the cumber of maps required by each. Correspondence from London was submuted/ also a large quantity of letters from ten Xew Zealand branches and sub-branches as well as. numerous applications by boys and young men for enrolment in the Navy. Replies sent by the hon. secretary were approved, and, in connection with the applications for enrolment, Commander Blunt, R.N., of H.M. drill-ship Pioneer, wrote that he expected his ship would be in Wellington Harbour at the end of May. ilie arrangements as to the form the annual meeting should take was left in the hands of the hon. secretary. It is hoped that in addition to an official meeting in the afternoon, a large public demonstration at the Town Hall may be arranged on similar lines to those of last year's very successful function, the singing of a massed chorus of juvenile members of the league- having been a feature of the occasion. Account* were passed for payment totalling £146 4s 4d. including £129 18s for expenses in connection with the recent ball. There were several letters of congratulation upon the great success of the bail.
