AN INVALID ELECTION.
[BT TZLEGKAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ASHBURTON, This Day. At the first meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, held on Ist April, Mr. Hugo Friedlander was elected chairman by the casting vote of the Returning Officer. The other candidate, Henry Davis (Mayor) protested, stating that the action of the Returning Officer was illegal. He has since communicated with Dr. Valintine, and received the following reply : — "Election of chairman by casting vote of the Returning Officer invalid, and new election should take place next meeting."
