OPERA HOUSE. The "Peter Pan" seaton at tho Opera House closes this evening. His Excellency the Governor (Lord Plunket) and the Prime Minister iSir Joseph Ward) and Lady Ward are expected to bo present. Ihe season has been most successful from every point of view. The attendance lias been large at all performances, the playgoers (both young and old) hays been delighted, and, what is more, come hundreds of children nnd adults from orphanages and other philanthropic institutions have enjoyed the play, too, thanks to the kindly forethought of tho management. THEATRE ROYAL. The present programme at the Theatre Royal must be one of the most popular that Fuller's have presented, judging by the large attendances. The items are all new, well balanced, and attractive. A repetition of last night's programme is announced for this evening. KING'S THEATRE. A fine programme of pictures is being shown at the King'e Theatre this week. One particularly good film gives some charming views of Melbourne. The programme will be repeated this evening. HIS MAJESTY'S PICTURES. The picture season at His Majesty's Theatre continues as popular as ever at this favourite place of amusement. The programma Li excellent in every particular The great Lourdes picture, llhtrtrating scenes no graphically described by Zola, is alone worth going to *cc. But the other features in the programme, "Tho Midsummer Night's Dream," tho "Opening of the British Parliament by the Kinpt," nnd "On tl» Reef," ars strong features in a strong bill. The pictures are showing every evening but- Sunday. STAR PICTURES. To-night is the la»t of tho weekly programme of the Star Pictures nhowing so successfully in Newtown. Thero will be a matineo 'to-day, ca well as an evening performance. The entertain ment is excellent. On Monday evening a new programmes will bo presented. EMPIRE PICTURES. The vocue of pictures continues unabated. At the Town Hall the Empiro pictures are attracting good houses. The utar item in the programmes is the life atory of Napoleon Bonaparte, expreseed in the running film. ORGAN RECITAL. This evening, commencing at 8 o'clock, the usual recital will be given ou the Town Hall organ by Mr. Maugtun Barnett The programme include* Hollins's "Spring Song," tho overture to "Tannhauser 1 ' (Wagner), "Fantairie Dramatique" (Mailly), and Chopin's Nocturne in E-flat Tho Missions to Seamen's Institute was well filled last evening, when an instructive lecture was given on ambulance work by Mr. Jamos Moore, the missioner. Daring the evening tho lecturer cave several demonstrations r.bov.-inc the different methods of carrying patients, how to treat severed arteries, and tho system of restoring thn apparently drowned. Competitions in connection with gun accident! and health matters were held, and won by tailors from ship« in port. A musical programme was provided by Mr. Page, the following contributing items : — Misses Circenish (2), Page, Messrs. Page and Tuseon. Miss Greenish played the accompaniments. The performers wore accorded v hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion of the meeting. An enjoyable evening wav spent oft. the opening of the Kilbirnie Volui>teer Fire Brigado's Quadrille Assembly, held in O'Donnell's Hall last evening. About 60 couples were present. Tho music was supplied by Mr. A. Timming. The Lyall Bay Assembly will in the future meet on Tuesday evenings, inKteads of Wednesdays. A class .for beginners is held from 7 till 8.
