THE AMOKURAS'S SURVEY.

IN DUSKY SOUND. Woid has been received by the Maline Department regarding the barvey that lias been mado by the steamer Amokura of tho locality in Dusky Sound whoic the steamer Waikaro was lost. The telegram, which i* fiom the Bluff from Captaiu Hooper, of the Amokura, is as follows :—: — "Amokura arrived here to-day. KocKy patch rxistb. Bearings north 26dcg east magnetic from the north-west point of Indian Island. The least depth ascertained was 12ft at low water ordinal y springß. The outermost rock is distant upwards of li cables from the point mentioned, and is dit-tanl one cable from the foreshore. The shoal patch is in extent a quarter cable length east north-east, and slightly less in width. It is steep to on the north and west sides, having a rhannol between it and the foreshore, carrying from 6 to 19 fathoms of water. Excepting thif* patch, the channel on the nnith-wcstcrn bide of Indian Island appeals dear, us tho ship failed to find anything cUo with the 20 fathom soyndcrs which she constantly trailed."
