EMIGRATION OF YOUNG MEN.

AUCKLAND, Bth April. At this afternoon's meeting of the Auckland A. and P. Association, Mr. feedgwick, who is making a tour of the Dominion in advocacy of his srheme for the emigration of tho youth of the Old Country to these shores, addressed membcis on the subject of his mission. He said England was now offering suitable boy labour for the colonies — young, strongj and versatile men who were willing to come to the overseas dominions if the farmers of New Zealand were willing to co-operate with the Home authorities, and agree to take parties of these young men. It would not be long before they would be able to send out the exact stamp of man required for local conditions. If the stheme was heartily taken up it would be possible to relieve the overburdened labour market at Hoiqp, and turn it to good purpo«e in New Zealand and etsewhere. Dr. Stanford, supporting what Mi. Sedgwick had raid, remarked that it was, not proposed to rend out to the colonies llia "submerged tenth," but young nun capable cf making good colonists. He had »rcn the youth of England living lives that were debasing to their manhood. The type of boyt Mr. Sedgwick wished to send out hero wero not tho ragtag of London, hnl boya who would mako their way ahead if once given a chance. He hoped the farmers of New Zealand would see their way clear to as*i»t in the movement. The president (Mr. I. Gray) said what the country wanted was population, and he thought New Zealand could absorb not only hundreds but thousands of suitable youn^; men in agricultural labour. A committee was appointed to go into the matter.
