CONTROL OF FLOOD WATERS.
NAPIER, 7th April. In consequence of the way in which the district was threatened by serious floods during the recent rain*, a conference between representatives of the Hawkes Bay County Council and the Olive, Meeanee. and Taradale Iliver Boards was, held «t Mceanee to-day. The majority of the speakers were in favour of having the control of rivers centralized, and the disadvantages of the present divided control were referred to: but divcrgunco of »iewt» on various point* war apparent. It was decided that in the meantime the. member for the district should approach the Government with a view A obtaining the cervices of an engineer to report on the best method of dealing with uood waters.
