The Bishop expressed himself highly delighted with the visit, and the interest shown in church work by Maoris on the East Coast. He was particularly impressed with the work of the Native school teachers whom he had seen under different sets of circumstances. He had stayed with them, visited them in their homes and schools, and was quite confident that they were doing splendid work educationally, socially, morally, and religiously. They were exercising a great influence both in and out of the schools, and their work was one of the best elements he had encountered. He greatly appreciated their work on behalf of the Maori*, and considered it to bo one of the most fctriking things he had witn^ew-ed on the coast.
