_ Sir Joseph Ward will return to Weliinaton from the South on Friday. Mr. J. Vigor Brown, M.P., has been nominated for another term as Mayor of Napier. Sir William and Lady Russell leave Wellington by the Rimutaka to-day on ft trip to the Old Country. Captain Bone, marine superintendent Tor the New Zealand Shipping Com pany, is at present on a visit to Wellington. Mr. E. Trelawney, Superintendent of the P and O. Company in Australia, !eft Wellington for Auckland to-day. He Trill spend some days in Auckland. Mr. lhu K. Ngawaka, of the Ngapuhi tribe, who has for the past four years been absent from New Zealand, returned by the Turakina yesterday. He possesses a cultivated baritone voice, and has appeared successfully in concerts in London and Sydney. Mr. Ngawaka, however, has decided to take np farming on modern lines, and does not entertain tht project of a musical car*"=r.
