An habitual dmnkard named William Kgan, who had only been discharged a couple of days for intemperance, reappeared in the Magistrate* Court to-day, before Mr. W. R. Harden, S.M., charged with a similar offence. Within the last six months he had been con\icted on six occaxionc. In addition he appeared on a charge of ha\ ing used obscene language, an indictment which lie did not admit. The Bench did not take such a lenient view this time of thftranngres*or's offences, sentences' of three months' imprisonment being imposed, the terms to run concurrently. Three other inebriates — Mary Joyce, John M'Conville, and David Alexander Wright— were each tined 20s, in default seven day*' imprisonment. John Reginald Welsby, who nlso did not appear, was ordered to pay the Sims Hardware Co., Ltd., £4 6s Bd, on or before 21st April, in default four days' imprisonment. An order was refused in ench of the two following cases : Faulkc and Giesen v. Joseph Suba, a debt of £11 11h ; and S. Rawndev and Co. v. Fred. Butterworth, a debt of £19 6s 6d.
