ANNIVERSARY " SOCIALS."

The anniversary "social" of the Tara-naki-street Methodist Church was held last night. There was a large attendance. The Rev. S- J. Serpell (who presided) and the Rev. C. H. Laws delivered short addresses. Musical items were contributed by the choir, two solos by Miss Clark, and a recitation by Mr. H. B. Cooper. Refreshments were provided by ladies of the congregation. A social gathering to celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of the Kelburne Presbyterian Church was held last evening. There was a large attendance, the church being (filled. In his opening remarks, the Rev. Mr. Standage spoke very favourably of the progress that had been made by the church ; its foundation, he said, had been well laid, and its prospects were most hopeful. The Rev. J. Gibson Smith congratulated the minister and congregation on the progress that had been made. A number of musical items were contributed.
