LICENSE TO SHOOT GAME.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir, — It is with pleasure I notice that the Government has decided that the shooting of certain native and aIJ imported game will be open for sportsmen from 14th May to 14th June. On tho principle that half a loaf i.s better than no bread, this is pleasing intelligence, I) tit one point requires elucidation — what price will be charged for a license' to kill imported game '! In past seasons of three months the amount was £1 ; manifestly, therefore, it would be unfair to cl*arge that amount for one month. Might I suggest that acclimatisation societies would benefit more by charging, say, 10s for the period now allowed instead of the full amount of 20.'. — I am, etc., SPORT. [The license fee of £1 is fixed by statute.]
