♦ The Wellington Gas Company Morristube class opened its season with a match between teams selected by Mr. Norwood (head of fitting department) and Mr.Dougal (engineer's department) and resulted in a win fcr the. fitting department by twenty-nine points. The following shot best for the winners: — Mr. Norwood (31), Mr. Gray (31), Mi. Dodgson (31), Mr. Coombs (30), Mr. Smallbone (30), Mr. Butler (30). For the ' losers, Mr. Faulkijor (30), Mr. Dnnsen (29), Mr. Topp 128), and Mr. Acton (28), headed the libt.
"The next man who comes before me for being drunk 'in a railway carriage will get seven days' imprisonment without the option of a fine," said Mr. G. Cruickshank, S.M., in the IhvercargiU Court, when fining a first offender £1 and 2s costs. "It does not matter who lie is or what he is, the penalty. \rill be imprisonment if tho case, is a bad one."
