LANDSLIDES NEAR A LIGHTHOUSE. [BT TELKaRAI'H— PBKSS AJSOC.ATION.] GISBORNE, Thia Day. Extensive- landslides as Live result of the *torm in tbe vicinity of the Tuahine ' lighthouse— erected by the Government last year on a high headland near the approach to Poverty Bay — have caused apprehension as to the safety of the j structure. The caretaker wak removed for safety on Saturday, and the Harbour Board propose to remove his cottage to another site on more stable ground. j Last week's flood caused serious damage to the headworks of the municipal water supply. The water has been cut off for several days. The council is setting up pumps near Te Ann to provido a temporary supply^ The railway service, which has been interrupted since Wednesday, ie expected to bo resumed this afternoon.
