NAMES OF STREETS.

CITY AND SUBURBS. SUGGESTED ALTERATIONS. It is proposed to rename a number of the streets or portions of streets in the city of Wellington and suburbs. The Bylaws Sub-committee of the City Council has submitted a report to the council, in which it recommends that the following changes of namei of streets be made :—: — THE CITY. Adelaide-road — From Town Belt to Island Bay to be called Melbourneroad. Aro-street — To commence from Willisstreet, deleting the name Words worth-street. Crawford-street, Banks-terrace, and Tasman-street — All to be known as Tasman-street. Crawford-lane and Crawford-terrace — - Both to be known aa Ogilvie-place. Chariotte-street — To be known as Moles-worlh-fctroet. Botanical-road and Everton-terrace — To be known as Everton- terrace. Dock-street and College- Green. — Both to be knowa as Rugby-street. Dixon-street— To be extended to take in Taranaki-place. College-terrace — To be known as Gir-ton-terrace. Douglas Wallace-street — Douglas-street. Drummond's-lane — Malcolm-lane. Edward-street, off Hawker-street—Ste-phon-street. Ellicc-avcnue and Tutchen-street — Both to be known as Tutchen-street. Glenbervie-road — To be known as Syd-ney-street. NORTHLAND. Karori-road — To be called Main Karoriroad from Tinakori-road at Kar-ori-crescent, along tramline to city boundary. Old Karori-road — To be called "The Righi." Creswick-road — From Karori-road to Orniigi-road, aisd the Orangi-road from the Creswick-road to urangi-Kaupapa-road. to bo known as Northland-road. This is really the main road along the ridge at Northland. Cieswick-terrace — To terminate at both ends of Wilton-road. Wilton-road — To extend southerly from the Wilton Estate to Karori-road (this will delete Old KaTori-road, Uawith-road, Uamberwell-road, and Crcswick Road No. 1). Old Military-road — From Garden-road to Northland-road to be known as Mil'tary-road, deleting the word "Old." Old Military-road — The portion from Northland-road to Creswick-road to • be renamed. Mount-street — Creiff-street. KARORI. Kclhurne-parade — To bo from Sala-manca-road to Fairlie-terraoe. South-terrace — To be extended to Kel-burne-parade, and Kelburne-parade from Fairlie-terracc to the origin*' South-tersace, to be renamed Southterrace. Kelburne-parade — From South-terrace to Upland-road to be called Uplandcrescent. Wakefield-terrace — Gibbon-terrace. Raroaroad — To commence at Hollowayroad, over Karori-tunnel, to its junction with Karori-road. Upland-road— To extend to the Viaduct. Plunket-street — To extend between Up-land-road and Raroo-road, taking tho place of Upland Farm-road. Fairview-road— To be Fairview Crescent. Norway-street — To extend from junction of Plunket-street and Raroaroad to Raroa-road above Polhill Gully Quarry, deleting the name Entrance-street. Upper Kaiwarra-road and Old Karoriroad — To bo known as Mount Plea-sant-road. MITCHELLTOWN AND TAITVILLE. Right-cf way off Highland-road — To be called Te Hiwi. Stoujt-terrace — To be known as part of Irvine-street. ROSENEATH, KILBIRNIE, AND MARANUI. Clyde-quay. — To extend from Courtenayplaco to the west end of Fitzgerald Point. Oriental Bay. — The road along the harbour front from the east end of Fitzgerald Point to Point Jerningham, to be named Oriental-parade. Oriental-terrace.— To extend from top of zig-zag at Moeller-etreet to the cast end of the Oriental Bay plantation. Reserve. — Lindum-terrace. Evans Bay-road. — The road along the foreshore from Point Jerningham to Wellington-road, Kilbirnie, to be named Evans Bay-road.
