The Right Rev. Alfred Barry, D.D. Cambridge, D.C.L. Oxford, LL.D., Durliam, was born in I£>26, being becond son of the late Sir Charles lianv, R.A. Educated at King's College, London, and Trinity College, Cambridge, he was SubWarden of Trinity College-, Olcnalmond, from 1849 lo 1854, headmaster of Leeds Grammar School from 1854 to 1862, principal of Cheltenham College from 1862 to 1868, principal of King's College, London, from 1868 to 1883, Canon of Worcester from 1871 to 1881, Canon of Westminster from 1881 to 1884, Chaplain to the Queen from 1875 to 1884, ttivhop of Sydney and Piimate of Australia from 1884 to 1889, AssistantBishop of Rochester from 1889 to 1801. He was appointed Canon of Windsor in 1891, Absistant-Bishop in West London in 1807. From 1895 to 1900 he was Rector of St. James's, Pkcadily. His publications are numerous.
