V.M.C.A.

A largely-attended meeting was held in the V.M.C.A. boys' department rooms last evening, where considerably over ono hundred lads gathered together to bid farewell to Mr. G. W. Adair, who has resigned his position as boys' work director in the V.M.C.A. Mr. W. Eglin, chairman of the Boya' Work Committee, was in the chair, and- in tho course of a few remarks pointed out tho great strides that had been made in the V.M.C.A. boys' work during Mr Adair's term of office. Over 240 boys were now fully paid-up members of the department, and the marked success of - tho boys' cricket and football teams was duo in a large degree to his untiring efforts on their behalf. Mr. Port, of the board of directors, and variqus members of tho Boys' Work Committee also spoke. Mr. E. Hollis, an intermediate boy, on behalf of the boys, referred to tho great assistance Mr. Adair had been^ in the different physical activities of the department, and also to the great help he had been to many of the lads individually. Mr. Eglin then presented Mi-. Adair, on behalf of tho Boys' Work Committee and members of the department with a gold watch, suitably inscribed. Mr Adair thanked the Senior Committee, who had stood close to him during his time of office, and urged tho boys present to make the best of the lives which were in front of them. The boys then sang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow," and threo hearty cheers ended tho 'meeting.
