MIRAMAR COUNCIL.

NO OVERDUE RATES. The Miramar Boiough Council met la>t evening. Present .-—-The Mayor (Mr. C. J. Crawford), and Councillors MLeod, Brodie, Muir, and Bowie. Leave of absence was granted to Councillors M'Clelland and Bell. Plan* showing the position of pipes which the Gas Company propose to lay down in the dittiict ol Miramar North were put in. The engineer of the comEany stated that in older to minimise de>y in completion of the work the h'n-t instalment of pipes had already been ordered. Tho plans were received. Approval was given by the Treasury of the- loan of £48,000 for water and drainage. The letter was received, the matter being discussed ia committee. A request, for modification of requirements as to width of road, kerbing, and channelling of piopofced t>treeth und roads on the Miramar Central property was received and dealt with in committee. The East Burnham Ketate Company Crotcstcd against collection of n»tet> due y hection-owners who had purchased from -the company. The Mayor *aid the company's position whs perfectly cecure —they forfeited tho sections upon which payments were due. Failing collodion of ratet, from the section-holder the company was responsible to the council. They had their remedy against the defaulting f.ection owner*. Incidentally he wui pleated to announce that there were no rates now overdue to the borough. The town clerk informed the coumil that the credit bank bnlance stood at £1252 2s lid to date. Accounti amounting to £220 13s 9d were passed for payment.
