UNIVERSAL TRAINING.
PRELIMINARY ARRANGEMENTS. Steady progress is being mode by the [ Defence authoritie» in the preliminary arrangements to meet the various requirements of the Defence Act of last session. Instructions have been issued to Officers Commanding Districts that all lads between 14 and 18 years of age attending high schools and colleges (including private schools, who are liable for service as senior cadets, and who jjre not at present being trained as such, arc to be either enrolled in exmttng companies or new companies formed, to ensure that all undergo military training. As double rank drill for infantry i.« now universal, the strength of senior c<tdet companies may be increased, not to exceed 84 of all ranks, which will be the establishment laid down for infantry cgnv £30} eg «t'.ihe Jerntodri Jptcf.'
