SERIOUS MOTOR ACCIDENT.
VR. BUCHANAN, M.P., AND MR. CRUICK- ' SHANK INJURED. BOTH PROGRESSING FAVOURABLY. [■I TELEGRAPH — SPECIAL TO IIIK POST.] MASTERTON, This Day. While returning from a wedding at Kahumingi yesterday, Mr. W. C. Bu- j chanan, M.P., and Mr. J. D. Cniick- I met with a serious motor-car -accident. Mr. Buchanan was driving, and when the car was approaching the bend ■ in the road near the bridge over the | Taueru River, the brakes refused to ! act, and the car and its occupants were i precipitated over a high embankment, : the car rolling on top of them. Assist- \ ance was promptly at hand, and tho in- i jured men were conveyed to Masterton. | Examination disclosed that Mr. Buchan- j an had sustained serious injuries. An eight-inch spike had run right through his thigh, and he had dislocated his left ! shoulder. Mr. Cruickshankj in addition to shock and braising, dislocated his shoulder. The result of the latest enquiry indicated that both are progressing favourably.
