COURT CASES.
Two men — Jame* Cummings and John Fennessy — were charged in the Magis- | trate's Court yesterday with assaulting and robbing Joseph John Patterson of a silver watch, valued at £8. Evidence was given alleging that informant was assaulted at about 11 o'clock on Saturday night, the 19th hist., by two men, one of whom was noticeably taller than the other. Walter Smart, pawnbroker, stated that accused went into his shop to pawn a watch, which was being looked for by the police. Mr. Webbe appeared for the two men, who reserved their defence. They were committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Information charging a yount; man named Walter Henry Lister with having attempted to commit an unnatural offence was dismissed by Mr. Haseldcn, S.M. Robert Woodward, a young man, was fined £5 and costs (£4) on a charge of stealing some money, a waistcoat, and a pendant, of a total value of £"5 5s 4£d, the property of James E. Scott.
