Professor Milne, F.R.S., the wellknown seismologist, claims to have proved by the seismograph that the earth, at a mile and a half from the sea, swings diuinaliy with the tides. The Irish Sen depresses tho shores, producing a deflection equal to an inch in sixteiii miles.
