Results :—: — Stewards* Handicap, one mile. — Tattoo, 7.6, 1; Coromandel, 7.11, 2; Miss Advance, 7.3, 3. Scratched : Haldane, 7.2, and Ambrosian, 6.13. Tattoo led all the way, and won by two lengths and a half. Time, lmin 40 4-ssec. Mangere Handicap, six furlongs. — Emblem, 7.8, 1; Lady Frances, 8.0, 2; Soultoria, 6.12, 3. Scratched — Elegance 8.7, Fus.s, 7.8. Won comfortably by six and a-half lengths. Time, lmin 16see. Great Northern Champagne Stakes, of 650 soys; six furlongs. — ApeHon, 1; War Song, 2; King Soult, 3. Scratched— Virtue. Princess Soult, and Wenonah. A good race, won by half a length, third horse two and a half lengths away. Time, lmin 16 3-ssec. St. George's Handicap, one mile and a quarter.— Sedition, 7.7, 1 ; Woodhey, 7.8, 2; Santa Rosa, 7.6, 3. Scratched— Dawn 7.5, and Prince Leo 6.8. A fine race, won by a length and a half. Time, 2miu 9sec. CANTERBURY MEETING. CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. The Canterbury Jockey Club's autumnmeeting opened in very bad weather. Easterly rain fell all night, and the t-ourse is soft. The hurdles race was mil in fine driving rain. The attendance under the circumstances was fair. Results :—: — Kildan? Hurdles, two miles. — Whatakura, 10.13, 1; Southern Cross, 11.4, 2; Ratepayer, 9.0, 3. Only starters. Whatakura headed Southern Cross at the last hurdle, and won by four lengths. Time. 3rnin 57sec. Champagne Stakes, of 750 soys ; six furlongs. Colts 8.10, fillies 8.8. Sir Geo. Clifford's Madam Madcap, by Clanranald — Madowla ... 1 Formless 2 Danube 3 Scratched : Crown Derby. Formless led from Madam Madcap round the turn, but was caught at the top of the straight, and the filly won easily by three lengths, Danube two lengths away. Time, lmin 17 2-ssec. Autumn Plate, of 250 soys ; one mile. —Genius 8.7, 1; Guianforte 8.7, 2; Ristori 8.4, 3. Also started— Glenfield 8.7, Eaglestone 8.4, Shindy 8.4, Zemlia 8.4. Won by three lengths.
