BOBRIKOFF WINS AUTUMN STAKES. Bj Telegraph. — Press Association.— Copyri«ht. SYDXEY, 26th March. The Australian Jockey Club's autumn carnival opened at Randwick to-day in glorious weather, and, the attendance was very large. Bobrikotf won the Autumn Stakes in fast time, after a great finish with Maltine and Trafalgar, and his victory resulted in a popular demonstration. Results are as follow: — First Hurdle Race ; about two miles.— Treat, 10.4, 1; Contorp, 9.5, 2; Pharos, 9.10, 3. Twelve started. Won by half a length. Time, 3min 49sec. Autumn Stakes, of 1000 bovi. Mitchell's Trafalgar. 9.0 3 Seven started. Downfall was scratched. From a good start, Maltine was best away, but once fairly 'going, Hoax went to the front, with Bobrikoff lying third. Hoax led along the back and round the turn, the field undergoing little change excepting that Bobrikoff moved into second place. Entering the straight, the field closed up. Bobrikoff on the inside moved to tho front at the distance, and, lighting out a fine race with Maltine and Trafalgar, won nicely by three-quarters of a length, with half a length between second third. Duke of Clarence, Black Range, and Vaunlie. Mala and Knox were first to break the line. When the field settled down Nadir took charge, followed by Mala, I'erkeo, and Parsee. Before reaching the six furlongs. Storey went to the front, with Vauntie second. Then followed Mala, Perkeo, Parsee, Nadir, and Apple Pie. At the half-mile post Storey still had charge from Vauntie, Mala, Parsee, and tPerkeo. Coming into the straight Nadir showed the way, with Parsee as nearest attendant, and Storey and Mala both handy. One© fairly on the way for home, Storey shot out again, and, going strong, won by three lengths. The same distance separated second and third. Britain was fourth, and then came Flavinius and Vavasor, while Duke of Clarence and Gidyea, were last. Time, lmin 38isec.
