Yesterday being Good Friday, the •city had a Sunday appearance. The | weather was beautifully fine, and in the J afternoon large .number* of persons pio- I ceeded to Day's Bay, Inland Bay, **A Lyall Bay. { ! For those who are spending th^r Easter in town there are a number of attractions to-day, including the Aus-tralia-New Zealand Test match at the | Basin Reserve. On the Brougham Hill and Thorndon courts the contests for the Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennin Championship will be continued. Th> famous Beseeß-o'-th'-Barn Band willpla>J at the Athletic Park. In the evening, in addition to holiday programmes at St. Thomas's, His Majesty's, the Theatre Royal, and the King* Theatre, "Peter Pan" will be produced at the Opera House. ! On Monday, the Test match will be ! continued at tho Basin Reserve. Race i meetings will be held at Tauhereuikau and Fcilding, and there is also to be a pony and galloway race meeting at ; Miramar. Special excursion* are to be run by train and steamer, and in the evening holiday programmes have been arranged at the various places of amuse- | uient.
