The weather is fine and the sky overcast for the opening day of the A.R.C Autumn Meeting. The course is in perfect order, and the attendance an average one. Results :—: — ' Tradesmen's Handicap, of 200 soys ; one mile and a quarter. — Manapouri, 7.6, 1 ; Rauparaha, 7.4, 2 ; Miss Advance, 6.12, 3. Scratched — Madame Soult and Fu.is. Rauparaha led to within a short distance of the post, when Manapouri challenged and won by a neck. Time. 2min 10 3-ssec. Brighton Hurdles, of 200 soys. ; two miles. — Prophet, 9.0, ). ; Reservoir, 10.9, 2; Dunborve, 10.3, 3. Also started — I Te Arai 10.6, and Lady Patricia 10.6. Work on the tracks this morning wasof an interesting character. Must of the. trainers preferred the plough, but all the tracks were open. Lovelorn, with tbe advantage in weights, beat Zetland and Glenfield over a mile in lmin 46 3-5 sec. Madam Madcap defeated Countermaine by three lengths over six furlongs in lmin 16sec from practically a standing start. Prim finished well after running ten furlongs in 2min 16eec, and Gwendolina ran seven in lmin 36 2-5 sec. Penates (Hatch up), with Silkweb's assistance over the last six, galloped seven in lmin 31 3-ssec, but went lazily. Fasnakyle beat Husbandman over six in lmin 16 4-ssee. Tikitere was well in front of Osiris with a light-weight up at the end of a mile run in limn 43 1-5 | *ec, Bridge being beaten off. Boanerges < I held Sharpshooter safe over six, run in lmin 16sec, finishing very well. Outlander and FKtaway were together after 1 a fast ten on the sand- run in 2min lOsec, the former going rattier more strongly than his companion at the finish. Guianfortc started with them, but dropped back. Kora defeated Mis Fry in a five furlongs spin. Kilwinning went pleasingly in a mile and a-quarter in 2m in 12sec. Gunboat, with the advantage in weight, beat Formless in a fast six, cut out in lmin 17 l-ssec. Whataknra galloped a mile solidly, and Libyan and Gold Braid ran six. Tenterhook's task was five, run iv lmin 4 2-ssec. Tumi^t Cronstadt were well matched in h six-fuilong gallop, run iv lmin 16sec, but the latter moved more pleasingly. Kilindim ran seven convincingly, and Broadsword cut out a satisfactory six. I Susa spurted five. Inchbonny beat | Paragon over six in lmin 16 3-ssec, aud Veda, with a pull in weights, defeated Paragon in a naif-mile sprint, occupying 50 4-ssec. Osiris was better than All Guns in a fast six turlongs, but the latter <vas eased a little. Luperin and Windgun worked over a mile, Diabolo being given a similar task, and Eaglestone and Southern Cross ran seven. Pretty Nell spurted for 50 l-ssec, and Gipsy Belle ran' six comfortably in lmin 19sec. Formby, Sir Tristram, Selene, Jean, Zemha, and Parula were given half to steady pacing. Ingoda was an absentee, but was probably worked elsewhere. After breaktast Federal cut out five brilliantly on the plough in lmin 1 2-5 sec, but was sore after working. Waipaku dashed over a mile in hmn 44 3-5 r-ec. Gold Lace, with Iramn's belp, ran ten in 2min 14 l-ssec, but did not finish very brightly. rJoutade cut oat & mile in lmin 43 3-ssec, and Cannomer galloped six in lmin 17 l-ssec. Oiyoi, looking well, was given a working gallop over nine. Effort beat Sir Frisco narrowly in a fast six, run in lmiu 15 l-ssec;, both were extended. Shillelagh went well iv a six-furlong sprint, and towards the end of operations Passion defeated Merry Lass over a brilliant seven on the sand, run in lmin 29 4-ssec. Many other horses, with engagements at the meeting, were worked.
