The Marine Court found that the recent fire on board the barque Penrhyn Castle was probably caused by setting fire to the straw of the crates stored near the ©eat of the outbreak by someone unknown trying to broach the cargo. The barque caught fire on the 11th February, a day or two after her arrival from London. It was ascertained thai the Ore started in the forehold among a quantity of pottery and other cargo which was loosely packed with straw.
