Tho wheat markets show a holiday tone, but are firm owing to reported droughts in the American winter wheat belt, a reduction of tho official estimates of tlx> Argentine crop, and a decrease in the world's weekly «hipinont* of 10,500 quar* tun. Victoria*^ March shipment sold at 39s l^d, and a -cargo of Australia at 38* 7id. There is little enquiry for cargoes, 39» 6d being asked for sailers (January), and 39s and 39s 3d for steamers (February). Australian spot i« UeM for 42* 6d. Nothing is doing in New Zealand wheat. The new crop is valued for prompt shipment at 35s to 35s 6d, c.i.f. Flour is dull. S-ale* of Australian (April shipment) 26a 9d. Oats axe quiet. Gorton*, 18s 6d to 21a 6d ; sparrowbills, 18s to 20s 6d ; La Plata (February and March), lll4 1 3d. SILVER. LONDON, 24th March. Bar silver is quoted at 23 5-16 d per ounce standard.
