ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

• f As a sequel to taking a dose of poison in a chemist's shop yesterday, <i maa named John Driscoll appeare ' befora Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., w-d.iy ia the Magistrate's Court on a thar.^e of attempting to commit suicide. When asked how he pleaded, accused replied, "I plead guilty, but I did noft intend to do it." Sub-inspector Norwood asked that accused be remanded for a week. Only that morning in %he hospital accused, ho said, had threatened to take another dose, and it was in consequence of this threat that the remand was applied for. Perhaps at the end of a week accused might be in a happier frame of mind. Driscoll was accordingly remanded till next Wednesday.
