HOMING PIGEONS
The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society is now in the middle of the seasonal pigeon racing. Last week the following races were flown :—Ashburton (234 miles), twenty-three birds competing (for a trophy presented by Mr. Wakelin) : Mr. Lewis's No. 380 (velocity 1325 yards per minute), 1 ; Mr. A. Clark's b.c.c. Roguery (1319 yards), 2 ; Mr. J. H. Clark's b.c.c. Magician (1616 yards), 3; Mr. Powell's No. 301, 4; Mr. E. Elliott's No. 486, 5 : Mr. Ahler's Xo. 86, 6. New Plymouth (1584 miles), eleven birds competing (an interval race for a trophy presented by Mr. M'lntvre) : Mr. J. H. Clark's Provocation (velocity 1387 yards per minute), 1 ; Mr. Haynes's No. 335 (1345 yards), 2; Mr. Elliott's No. 14 (1042 yaids), 3; Mr. Bailey's No. 56, 4; Mr. Thornhill's No. 31, 5; Conder and Hoare's No. 213, 6. Auckland (308 miles), eighty birds competing (for a trophy presented by Mr. A. Feldwick) : Mr. Haynes's Wanstead Wonder (728 yards per minute), 1 ; Mr. Bailey's Express (737 yards), 2 ; Mr. A.
