FBI TELEGBAFH — PBKB3 ASSOCIATION.! WAIROA, This Day. On Wednesday night there died at Waihirere, at the reputed age of 103, Rawinia Apata (Mrs. Christy), daughter of the famous chief Apatu. She was the last link between the old and new Wairoa, and was noted for her kindness to Europeans. In the early thirties, as a girl, she defended for several days, with whale lance, a young whaler condemned to dio for a breach of ta-pu, finally securing his escape.
