RELIEF FUND.
The number of callers on Mr. G. Willis, the secretary of the Citizens' Unemployed Relief Fund, continues to be large. Between thirty and forty gave in their names this morning, making the total number of unemployed registrations, on the secretary's books, 360. Lodder, accompanied with a request that Mr. Tregear will distribute the money in small amounts to deserving workers who, in his opinion, most need help. iMr. Lodder has also given orders for coal, meat, and bread, to be distributed in the same way. Twenty-four out of the twenty-five men engaged by the Citizens' Relief Committee to labour at Victoria College grounds attended p-unctually this morning, and made a beginning. A donation of tools, in addition to a monetary subscription, has been niad6 to the committee's funds and ajssets by Messrs. Briscoe and Co. A deputation, representing the committee, is to wait upon the finance committee of the Harbour Board, this afternoon, and urge that all possible expedition be made with the preparations for starting the works contemplated by the board.
