MINING DISASTER.
MANY MEN ENTOMBED. SERIOUS LOSS OF LIFE. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. LONDON, 12th July. News has been received that a disastrous explosion of gas occurred at the Makewaka mines, in the Don district, Southern Russia. Rescue work is progressing, and fourteen corpses have been recovered and ten injured men brought to the surface There are many more entombed.
