LETTER-SORTERS' GRIEVANCE.

Giving evidence before the Postal Commission, the vice-president of the Letter Sorters' Association declared that a largo percentage of deaths from tuberculosis amongst sorters was due to the unhealthy conditions under which the men worked. Complaints were made, but went unheeded. Ib was estimated that 8 per cent, of the deaths among sorters was caused by consumption. In the opinion of the witness, the habit people had of licking stamps communicated the germs of consumption.
