Cabled advices received by the local office of the Union Company state that the Moeraki sailed from Sydney at 2 p.m. on Saturday for Wellington direct, with 59 saloon and 20 steerage passengers for Wellington. The vessel should put in an appearance early on Wednesday morning. At any time now the German tramp steamer Walkure should put in an appearance from New York. She was advised as having sailed for Wellington direct on the 3rd May, and is accoidingly 70 days out to date. She brings a cargo of cas>e oil, consigned to the Vacuum Oil Company. Mr. W.Luke, formerly third engineer of the ■wrecked steamer Penguin, and latterly of ihe Tarawera, has received a shore appointment in the Union Company's service at Wellington. He arrived from south yesterday by the Maoii, to take up his new duties. In accoi dance with schedule, the Aparima arrived at Calcutta on Monday last. She sails towards the end of the month for Singapore, Samaiang, and New Zealand. The Mauaroa having completed her overhaul, resunifd running to-day, and sailed for Motucka. The Blenheim, which lias been relieymg the former vessel, re-enters the Blen-heim-Wellington trade. Tiie training ship Barrfoid, loading jarrah at present at Bunbui,\, will make Lyttelton her first port ot call, and Wellington the newt.
