THE NEW VICE-REGAL RESIDENCE.
The amount of tho contract which the Public Works Department has let to the I New Zealand Powell Wood Process, i Ltd., of Rangataua, near Ohakune, for the supply and delivery of timber required for the erection of the new ViceKsgal residence at Mount View, Wellington, is £2652. All the timber to 1 be treated by the company's patent pro-J cess. Other tenders submitted for the ' supply of the timber, without treatment,' were as follow: — Easson, Ltd., £2313; C. and A. Odlin, £2316 ; M'Leod, Weir, I and Hopkirk, £2361 ; Pukuweka Sawmills^Ltd., £2390 ; Stewart Timber Co., £2505. The Wairarapa Sawmillers' As- ; sociation submitted a tender for the supply of portion of the order, and Messrs. Goldfinch ancT Co., of Ohakune, quoted £2803 for the supply of the timber treated by the Powell process.
